Doncaster Rehabilitation Services (DRS)
primarily aims to provide quality rehabilitation,
maintenance therapy and therapeutic activities for eligible
older people in the municipality of Manningham in order to
maintain or improve their physical, mental and emotional health
so that their ability to live a fulfilling and independent life
in the community is maximized. The service also aims to assist
carers to cope with changes related to the clients condition and
to provide information and education in relevant areas for both
the client and the carer.
Clients must be referred by a hospital, their doctor or other
relevant health professional. A comprehensive assessment is
performed by one of the therapists employed by DRS prior to
commencing a program of therapy.
Services provided includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy,
podiatry and strength training. Most sessions
are conducted in small groups in modern well-equipped premises
located adjacent to Cassia House aged care facility.
Funding is provided by the Commonwealth Department of Health and
Ageing and through a small fee charged to clients per session.
